First Balance and Bug Fix of 2023 - 1/9/2023


---GAMEPLAY AND FUNCTIONALITY CHANGES---

-Stabby Tweaks: No longer refills stamina WHILE rolling.

-Punchy Tweaks: Increased percent damage done while attacking bosses with the dash/blink: 15% normal, 25% upgraded. Descriptions have also been changed.

-Shooty Tweaks: Can now move while reloading.  More damage added to shot attack, enough to one-shot a normal gnoll at one stamina/load.  Variable speed based on how much shot is loaded has been removed.  Shooty now moves at speed most other kobolds move.

-Smashy Tweaks: Stamina refills at half speed. Powerup speed reduced to 1.6x instead of 2x.  Sorry, but he was a little bit overpowered.

-Alt-Tabbing after player has died will now pause the game as well.

-Archmage altered to now teleport only SOME of the time, randomly.  Successful attacks against the Archmage that don’t teleport him also won’t stop his attacks.

-Supertank hitbox adjusted to be much more precise and more vulnerable to certain attacks and angles. (Dynamite and Punchy’s dash/blink are much more effective now)

-Siege Tower hp has been increased by 30 points.  This increase applies to the siege tower at all levels.

-Revamped Beast's "Retreat mode" in a new set of attacks. Low retreats from the Beast result in glob spits, and high retreats result in big jumps across the arena that result raining globs.  These attacks get more difficult and complex in later iterations of the boss.

-General's Parry attack has been changed.  Now it is a means of walking from one side of arena to other, not strafing.  General may or may not attack if encountering player, and if player attacks too early, may prompt retaliation.

-General's Health has been raised from 85 to 125.

-General attack hitboxes have been updated to move more precisely.

-General is now invincible during Spin attack, to dissuade spam kicking, and force a more "back-and-forth" fight.

-Changed” Sealed for Freshness” upgrade.  Pickups now last double time, or until mopup phase, whichever is longer.

-Changed “Anti-Safety” Glass upgrade.  Blast now STUNS instead of doing knockback.

-Changed “Existential Poultry” upgrade.  Now it turns HALF of normal enemies into chickens.

-Changed “Portal of Free Swag” upgrade.  The portal now creates one of every pickup type you currently own. This includes other upgrade pickups!

-Changed “Astrological Fortunes” upgrade for Stabby.  Rolls now STUN instead of knockback.

-Changed “Morginkoogle's Endless Stabbing” upgrade to only extend time to powerup attacks.

-Invincibility Pickup now lasts 5 seconds again. 

-The Tank now will target player above them the same way normal gnolls do: with a chance to attack or simply wander more below.

 

---APPEARANCE CHANGES---

-Updated the actual icon for the game.

-New animation added to Shooty for running while reloading.

-Iron ladders now have changed visual and sound effects when kicked under normal circumstances.

-Rephrased message in pause menu to: "Are you sure you want to return to main menu?”

-Splashes from rain and sparks tweaked to fall in a narrower area that corresponds to the recent changes in the wall’s appearance.

-Description for Greater Rest upgrade updated to be more accurate. "Regenerate half your missing health after each wave"

-"Pet the Hyena" and other messages are added to secret text.

-Added a unique sound and effect to player if they are attacked while invincible.  Reusing deflection effects from Supertank.

-Replaced the small indicator for the Repurposed Cadaver Upgrade with a picture of hyena beans, and not the recycle symbol.  Yes, this was specifically requested.

 

---BUG FIXES---

-Fixed bug where ladder damage wasn’t being correctly calculated on score screen. 

-Fixed some bugs and visuals to ensure that poisoned bosses will be the correct color at all times.

-Made it so poison-able bosses can potentially die AFTER a player has died after they are poisoned.

-Escape and B button no longer work in the death menu.  They previously took you directly to the main menu.

-Fixed a bug where music was playing after General defeats player.

-Old One Toof (Helper Kobold) will not show up during the General's death scene.

-Plinko updated with a default target area to fire at if he shoots without an enemy on screen. Plinko will shoot toward midscreen.

-Attempted to fix a bug where the Archmage's doom orb was teleporting around, but uncertain if it worked.  Hard to replicate the initial problem!

-Attempted to fix a bug with overlapping ladders, but uncertain if it worked.  Hard to replicate this as well!
